The Marcel woven rattan armchair, shown here in its low-back version, is a true symbol of French rattan. Very popular in the countryside in the early XXᵉ century, it was then sold by peddlers from village to village. Lightweight, sturdy and affordable, this armchair was often the only element of comfort in modest households: for knitting, listening to the TSF, smoking, reading by the fire or chatting in the shade of an apple tree.
Comfortable, simple and robust, the Marcel armchair has stood the test of time without losing any of its relevance. Today, it is still the ideal occasional chair, equally at home in a rustic interior or a contemporary setting. Its seat height makes it equally at home around a dining table, accompanied by a cushion if required.
Timeless and functional, it continues to embody an essential form of comfort, authentic and accessible.
